Spreading the joy of the holiday season
Dec 10, 2024, 16:39 PMThe holiday season is upon us and there's no shortage of festive events and charitable activities to get involved in across our communities. Here's a glimpse into some of the heartwarming events and initiatives happening this year:
Lights of Joy
Beginning in 2020, employees helped string outdoor holiday lights at 26 senior homes throughout our service territory. After all, who’s better for the job than power line workers equipped with a bucket truck?
Since then, the tradition has grown, and our employees look forward to being part of this volunteer initiative every year. In addition to senior homes, we also light up parks, community centers, hospitals, fire halls and more.
As well as lighting up the holiday season, we have been making financial contributions to organizations who need it most during this season. We are contributing $143,400 to over 70 food banks across Alberta so that families in need have access to essential food supplies. We are also supporting the women’s shelters within our service territory with an investment of $24,330.

Alongside Lights of Joy, you can spot our trucks (and employees in blue Santa hats) in holiday parades this winter. We’ll see you in Airdrie, Athabasca, Brooks, Coaldale, Fort Macleod, Lac La Biche and Westlock
