Are you organizing an environmental or energy-saving project? At FortisAlberta, we invest in the communities where our customers live, work and play. Whether you’re looking to retrofit lights in your community hall or plant a garden at the local elementary school, FortisAlberta can support your energy-saving and environmental initiatives.

Grants

Grants range in value and are available to applicants located in our service area. Applications open each year on Jan. 1 and must be used in the same year they are awarded.

Save Energy grants – $1,000 to $7,500
These grants help municipalities, schools and community organizations with energy efficiency projects. Examples include window and door replacement, LED retrofits and Energy Star appliance upgrades. Applicants must be located in our service area to qualify. Learn more here. Stay tuned for exciting changes coming to the Save Energy grant program.

Community Naturalization/Tree Planting grants – $2,500
These grants are awarded to municipalities to support their environmental and naturalization efforts. Past projects have included tree planting, building community gardens, installing recycling bins and beautifying downtown hubs. Learn more here.

greenUp grants – $1,000
Our greenUp grants help schools create or enhance environmental programs such as outdoor classrooms, hydroponic gardens, greenhouses and more. All schools in our service area are eligible to apply for one of twenty $1,000 grants. Submissions are accepted on a first come first-served basis. Learn more here.
