Leave it out of the landfill

Beyond ensuring proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials, like street light bulbs or batteries, we keep other things out of our landfills. Transformers are refurbished whenever possible. From the paper in our offices to the transformers that keep your lights on, we are committed to reducing, recycling and reusing.

We are over a decade ahead of the legislative requirement to remove all oil filled equipment with high concentrations of Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB). The deadline for the removal of this equipment is 2025 – and we’re done.

Stop the spark

Wildfire education and prevention is the best measure to reduce the dangers for electrical facilities and private property. That’s why we’re dedicated to:

Prevention
Fire management plans in high-risk locations

Monitoring
Frequent checks of provincial fire notices and municipal fire bans

Rapid response
Employee training on fire suppression equipment and response procedures

Education
Customer education on potential electrical fire hazards that can cause wildfire

Land use and vegetation conservation

Maintaining trees, and protecting water and the species that habitat an area, are all critical for the delivery of safe, reliable electricity. Trees that come into contact with power lines can cause fires and outages. We are committed to safety while respecting the environment through our integrated vegetation management strategy that includes specialized training for our employees.
