Did you know? We perform hot-line work to avoid disruption of your electricity service
Jun 21, 2016, 15:18 PMRepairs and upgrades are an important part of delivering safe, reliable service. When possible, we perform hot-line work, which means we perform the work without disruption of power service to you.
Hot-line work involves using rubber blankets and hoses to insulate the cross arms and wires, so that our Power Line Technicians can safely perform the necessary repairs or upgrades without having to shut off the electricity. Our hot-line crews work in two-man teams, one acting as an observer and the other in the bucket working on the line, using two mini buckets, three material handlers and two large aerials. On average, FortisAlberta performs about 16,000 man-hours of live line work every year.
Sometimes, our maintenance work requires outages – for our safety and yours. These planned power outages are infrequent. When they happen, we’ll do our best to let you know at least two days in advance. You can easily view these planned outages here: https://service.fortisalberta.com/
