Community celebrates FortisAlberta at Olds open house
May 16, 2016, 19:40 PMOn May 5, we welcomed members of the Olds community to celebrate the grand opening of our new local office. Representatives from the Town of Olds, Mountain View County and surrounding communities joined FortisAlberta employees, retirees, partners and neighbours for a BBQ lunch, “wire” cutting ceremony and interactive exhibits highlighting our core business priorities.
“We have a long, proud history here in the Olds area,” says Mike Pashak, Vice President, Customer Service. “This whole area is built on entrepreneurship and innovation, which places a high demand on us to provide safe, efficient and reliable electricity. We meet those demands today and we are poised to meet them in the future.”
Guests had the opportunity to learn more about FortisAlberta through a variety of exhibits that included an overview of the FortisAlberta Control Centre, displays and demonstrations on automated metering, vehicles, equipment and energy efficiency, and a special visit from long-time partners the Alberta Birds of Prey.
“The Town of Olds is very proud of our collaborative relationship with FortisAlberta,” says Debbie Bennett, Deputy Mayor, Olds. “The culture of helping others is part of the fabric of the Fortis Company. We need you and I’m sure you know how much we need you any time there’s an outage.”
“On behalf of our council and staff, I bring greetings and congratulations to FortisAlberta on your open house and enhancement of your local service,” adds Patricia McKean, Deputy Reeve, Mountain View County. “We look forward to continuing our relationship as we move forward in the coming years.”
