• FortisAlberta has been upgrading the existing infrastructure in the municipality of Crowsnest Pass in phases starting with the Blairmore community. The improvements identified for Coleman in the coming year will be a continuation of efforts to bring existing infrastructure up to current standards and requirements utilized across the province.
• During construction, FortisAlberta Powerline Technicians (PLTs) will be on-site to install equipment that will allow us to sectionalize different parts of the system so that when power outages do occur, the number of customers impacted can be reduced and power restored quicker.
• Several of the community’s services are currently served off of radial (not looped) non-standard 4160 volt non-load break feeds. This means that during routine maintenance or repairs, service to customers may be interrupted for a planned power outage to restore power, which impacts numerous customers. During this project we are looking to provide alternate feeds throughout the community so services can be restored quicker and limit the number of customers impacted.
• The upgrade not only provides greater service and reliability but also additional safety for residents and power line technicians during routine maintenance or repairs to the system.

• FortisAlberta plans to bring in approximately a dozen (12) two-man crews to perform the work as safely and efficiently as possible.
• Work will be performed in isolated areas at a time to reduce impact across the community.
• Residents are asked to maintain a safe distance from worksites and crews, and to take care approaching and passing work vehicles and/or large equipment.

• In advance of planned outages, impacted customers will be notified by FortisAlberta 48 hours in advance.
• If customers are unsure if FortisAlberta has their most up-to-date contact information, please call 310-WIRE (9473).
• The FortisAlberta website as well as the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass website will provide the most up-to-date information for the project.
• FortisAlberta may also provide flyers, posters and notices posted around the community and to social media channels.
• In addition, the Crowsnest Pass Herald will provide public notice of work details, including impacted locations.

• Where and as much as possible, poles and wires will be replaced in similar locations as existing.
• If a planned line crosses a roadway, poles will be installed on both sides of the road to ensure maximum clearance for vehicles and equipment.
• Complete avoidance of trimming / removal of greenery may not always be possible, but we will be looking to place infrastructure with as minimal impact to trees and greenery as possible.
• FortisAlberta has chosen alignments and positioning of poles & wire to minimize the impact to residential properties.
• Due to new standards and safety requirements, some secondary services between FortisAlberta infrastructure and homes may require modification. Impacted owners will be contacted prior to construction to discuss options and impacts.
• All ground disturbances and civil work performed can be expected to be remediated to conditions present prior to construction.
