FortisAlberta supports the Town of Viking with the launch of their new raw water pumping station

Jun 5, 2024, 15:28 PM

Employees from FortisAlberta recently attended a ribbon cutting event in the Town of Viking as the Town unveiled their new seasonal raw water pumping station.

Timeline: From quote to energization, this project was completed in just 18 days!

The completion of this project involved many FortisAlberta employees and departments, as well as collaboration with external resources. It was completed on an expedited timeline to mitigate water scarcity concerns in the area in anticipation of a very dry 2024 for the Town.

A key component of this pumping station involves the preservation of potable water for Viking residents and neighbouring rural agricultural producers. The station also serves as a vital investment in the long-term sustainability goals in Viking, which also align with those of FortisAlberta – goals rooted in its history and a commitment to preparing for the path ahead.

The event offered an opportunity for community engagement and education. In addition to representatives from FortisAlberta, the Town, local businesses and the media, the local MLA was also in attendance.

This project's success is a testament to collaborative efforts and dedication seen by those who made the call to problem solve and get the job done.

We would like to thank the Town of Viking for placing their trust in us throughout this project.
